Location 1158 Queen St E at Jones, Toronto. Leslie Grove Gallery
Through imagery and narrative, two fibre artists, Sheila Thompson and Beverly Allen, share their perspectives on a familiar plant structure, leaves. We present leaves of Ontario’s trees in diverse and unexpected ways to reveal some of their superpowers, vulnerabilities, and connections between the vitality of leaves and human activities. Sheila’s multicoloured, large felt leaves present extreme future responses to human-induced changes in habitat and climate. Beverly's depictions of leaves encourage close study of the leaves, highlighting the layers of colour and detail beneath their surface.
Activities: Artists will be available both weekends for tours and talks as well as construction of an indoors leaf based landart installation.
